Hi there. I’m Mili. This is my blog. Thanks so much for being here!
My sweetest life is filled with love and the best of intentions. I try my best each day to live a life full of joy and purpose. Here I share my experiences as a professional baker, with posts of my personal recipes and the dessert tables I have set and styled.
Becoming an expert baker stemmed from being blessed beyond my dreams. The worry of having a son with severe peanut and tree nut allergies, fueled my passion for baking. With support from my family and friends, I took the steps to become a professional and vowed to only ever offer sweets without peanuts or tree nuts.
In 2010, I started Mili’s Sweets as a catering business. That year, my cupcakes won the title, “Best in San Diego.” It was an incredible opportunity to grow my business.
Over the years, my hands have made thousands of cupcakes, hundreds of cakes, and many assorted desserts. My most fulfilling work-accomplishments surround fundraising for several organizations and charities, via my sweets.
In 2015, Mili’s Sweets was available exclusively at retail, daily, inside MiaBella Yogurt & Desserts – a frozen yogurt shop owned and operated by my good friends. It was a great experience but I wanted more interaction with my customers, less waste and more of a concentration on the passion and joy I have in my work.
Handcrafting desserts has always been about the product for me and about the individuals whom go out of their way to order from me. It takes a lot of love, time, care and special attention to create desserts and I wanted to go back to my core business that included services of catering custom desserts and setting/styling dessert tables.
In the Spring of 2016, I made the switch to doing things how I wanted them done. I’m thrilled to have Mili’s Sweets still exclusively available via MiaBella, but I’m now only offering my products at retail inside the two MiaBella shops on most Fridays and via pre-order with just two days advance notice. (The website to purchase Mili’s Sweets desserts and services is www.milissweetstogo.com.)
Before all of this, I had a long-time career as vice president of marketing and public relations for an apparel company. I left the corporate world to be a stay at home mom. San Diego, California has always been my home. I earned degrees in journalism and marketing from San Diego State University. I loved my dear dad, who recently lost his battle to cancer, and was raised as a first-generation American with the most influence from my mom and her big Italian family. I share her love of faith, family, food and all things homemade.
My favorite place to be is with my husband and our kids at the beach. One day I hope to write the life stories of my parents and a cookbook or two.
I would love to hear from you. Please contact me if you have a question or comment.
Take care and God bless, Mili
